When Winston from Te Amo Dance asked why his original website wasn’t showing up on Google, the answer was simple:
The site wasn’t built for SEO.
Let me be blunt: the old Te Amo Dance website was a dog box.
And that’s me being kind.
It had almost no structure, barely any useful content, no SEO signals, outdated design logic, and zero alignment with what real people search for. Google didn’t know what it was, who it was for, or why it should rank it for anything.
We didn’t “tweak” the site — we had to rebuild it from scratch. but Google doesn’t rank “pretty.” It ranks:
- relevant
- structured
- helpful
- authoritative
The old site didn’t answer search intent, lacked content depth, and gave Google almost nothing to understand the business with.
So we rebuilt everything from the ground up — strategically, intentionally, and with search performance at the centre.
Within two weeks, Te Amo Dance achieved:
#5 on Page 1 for “wedding dance Byron Bay”
#1 for “dance in Mullumbimby”
Here’s exactly how we did it.
Step 1: Rebuilding the Website With SEO in Mind
The original 14 page website wasn’t designed for ranking.
There was no keyword structure, no content hierarchy, no internal linking, and very little information for Google to work with.
THE BEFORE:
THE AFTER:
We rebuilt the website with:
- clean navigation
- strong page architecture
- strategic headings
- optimised URLs
- local relevance signals
- fast loading pages
- mobile-first design
The site went from a “digital brochure” to a search-friendly, high-quality digital asset.
Step 2: Understanding Winston’s Ideal Clients
Great SEO starts with actual human beings, not keywords.

We clarified:
- who the ideal dancers are
- what styles are most in demand
- what terms they search for
- what challenges they have
- what content builds trust
- how dance studios are chosen
This ensured the site aligned with real-world search behaviour.
Step 3: Keyword + Competitor Research
We analysed real local search data, including:
- “wedding dance Byron Bay”
- “dance classes Byron Bay”
- “Mullumbimby dance studio”
- “salsa Byron Bay”
- “ballroom dance lessons Byron Shire”
We also analysed every Byron Bay competitor — many had been around for years, but surprisingly:
Most had no professional SEO.
This was a major opportunity.
Step 4: Building Information Silos That Establish Authority

To “train” Google to see Te Amo Dance as a topic expert, we built out content silos for:
- Dance styles
- Wedding choreography
- Private lessons
- Local areas
- Blog content
- Schedule information
- Latin / Rhythm / Ballroom fundamentals
These interlinked pages signal depth and expertise — one of the biggest ranking factors today.
Step 5: Writing Content That Matches Search Intent
For the wedding dance page, we answered every relevant question:
- lesson structure
- choreography options
- number of sessions
- what couples can expect
- pricing
- style options
- Winston’s teaching approach
When a page fully satisfies user intent, Google rewards it.
This is a big reason why it reached Page 1 in 15 days.
Step 6: On-Page SEO Done Properly
Every page received full SEO optimisation:
- one focused H1
- keyword in the intro
- strong title tag
- compelling meta description
- internal links pointing in and out
- schema markup
- fast load speed
- clean design
- clear CTAs
- mobile optimisation
No keyword stuffing — just clarity, structure and relevance.
Step 7: Indexing, Interlinking & Early Ranking Growth
Once we published this 29-page website, we:
- submitted for indexing
- added internal links
- connected related topics
- fine-tuned URLs
- improved user flow
- strengthened local relevance
This combination is why the website quickly reached:
#1 for “dance in Mullumbimby”
#5 for “wedding dance Byron Bay”
And continues climbing for every major keyword.
About “Dance Classes Byron Bay” – The Big Keyword
This is a much more competitive keyword, and currently the site sits around page 6, which is excellent for a brand-new site.
Many competitors have:
- been around for years
- established domain history
- long-standing local presence
However – none seem to have professional SEO.
This means Te Amo Dance can absolutely outrank them, but this keyword is a marathon, not a sprint. At the time of writing, a solid SEO strategy and 3 months to 6+ months of continuous SEO will move the needle in a big way.
Ranking Isn’t Guaranteed
I made no guarantees that Te Amo Dance could reach page #1 – because no one can guarantee SEO outcomes.
Search engines are dynamic, and competition constantly changes.
Sometimes you hit page 1 quickly.
Sometimes it takes months.
I describe SEO like a dartboard:
- Sometimes you hit the target on your first throw.
- Sometimes you keep throwing until you land it.
- If your competitors aren’t doing SEO, your dartboard is static.
- If they are doing SEO, your dartboard is moving.
And if you’re targeting multiple keywords?
You’re throwing darts at multiple dartboards – some still, some moving, some changing shape as Google updates.
This is why SEO is a process, not a magic button.
Final Thoughts
Ranking success comes from:
✔ Strategy
✔ Relevance
✔ Strong architecture
✔ Great content
✔ Local signals
✔ Patience
✔ Consistency
Te Amo Dance climbed faster than many long-established websites because the foundation was right from the start. And the site will continue rising as Google rewards the structure, content depth and local authority we’ve built.
This is only the beginning – and watching this site grow over the next few months will be very exciting.
